Kalona has put the rights to name one of its ditches up for auction. The ditch was put on ebay.com, where anyone can bid for the rights to name it. The city is hoping to make some money with this auction. The money will be put towards the Safe Routes to School Program. As a warning to any potential buyers, the DNR has the final say on what the ditch will be named, but the city has discussed this with the DNR and they don’t expect any problems as long as the name isn’t offensive.
