A man with Washington and Southeast Iowa ties has graduated from basic combat training.  Army Reserve Private David S. Riness graduated at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma.  During this nine week program Riness received instruction and training exercise in drill and ceremonies, Army history, military courtesy, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, armed and unarmed combat and field maneuvers and tactics.

He earned the distinction as an honor graduate as well.  Reserve Private Riness is the son of Felicia Humphries of Washington and William Homes of Richland.

Riness studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
