The Mid Prairie wrestling team got their season underway Tuesday night, splitting a double dual at Wapello, losing to the Indians but picking up a win over English Valleys 42-30. Golden Hawk coach Justin Garvey was glad to get the season started.

“It was time to get out and see some different people. We’ve been beating up on each other for two weeks in the room now and it’s time to get out and evaluate where we’re at; we had a pretty good night.”

Against the Bears, Mid Prairie got some solid scoring from Omar Rivera who notched a pin in 195 lbs and at 124 lbs Jarred Draper recorded one as well. Chase Murray and Kyle Bontrager recorded a fall at 138 and 145 lbs respectively. Pyriam Peterschmidt nailed one down at 152 and Logan Wadsworth picked up a pin late in the third.
