Snow will soon fall over the area and Alliant Energy wants to remind everyone to clear any snow or ice from your utility meters.  Alliant Energy Spokesman Ryan Stensland says if you don’t remove the snow or ice, it can affect the operation of the meter.  He says to not pile snow near the meter, and to use your hands when clearing the snow or ice from it.

Stensland also recommends to not let dripping water or freezing rain build up on the meter as it might plug the vent.  He adds to remove any icicles that may be hanging from above the meter as well.  For more information, you are encouraged to contact Alliant Energy.
