Recent political candidates who have visited Washington have had extra security at their events. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says when Rick Perry came to town, his campaign specifically asked for extra security to be at the event.  He says they also provided security for Ron Paul when he visited Washington last week.

Chief Goodman says whenever there are bigger events in the community they will be there for safety purposes since this is part of their normal job duties.  He adds they would leave the event they are covering if there should be any sort of emergency.
