Some Iowa parents have chosen not to get their children vaccinated because of concerns about vaccination safety. Chrystal Woller of Washington County Public Health says some of the concern is about a link between vaccinations and autism. She says since this idea has come forth it has been scientifically disproven. Vaccinations have no link towards autism. She says some people choose not to get their children vaccinated because of religious reasons, and even though state law requires immunization for children to attend school, these children are still allowed to attend although it does create a hazard for those who have been vaccinated. She says children who have not been vaccinated will not be allowed to attend school when an outbreak of a disease they have not been vaccinated for occurs.
