St. James Catholic School in Washington is celebrating Catholic Schools Week this week. Catholic Schools Week first started in 1974 and Principal Teresa Beenblossom says this year they started celebrating on Saturday with a pizza party and a kick off Mass. The overall theme for the week is “Faith, Academics and Service.”
Beenblossom says throughout this week, the students will be taking part in different themes ranging from Twin Day to Pride Attire, Pajama Day and Dress Up Day. She adds the students will also be raising money to go toward the Washington County Relay for Life with different activities during the week.
Beenblossom says many of the parishioners at St. James Catholic Church are thankful for what is happening at the school and are always asking for ways to help in the school. Catholic Schools Week runs through next Sunday.
