Starting next week, new regulations in Iowa will require drivers who have a Commercial Driver’s License to have additional paperwork when renewing their license.  Washington County Treasurer Jeff Garrett says this is a federal mandate that has been passed down to the local level.  He adds those affected are the drivers who haul loads that started in another state even if the driver does not cross state lines.

Garrett notes government employees are currently exempt from this change.  The changes begin on Monday and those who do not meet the requirements will have their license downgraded to a non‑commercial status.
