The Washington City Council has chosen an individual to fill the vacant seat in the City’s Third Ward.  Two individuals submitted letters of interest for the seat.[simage=2775,400,n,center]

Bob Shellmyer was picked and sworn in by Mayor Sandra Johnson to serve a two-year term.

Also sworn in by Mayor Johnson was Larry Bartlett to serve on the Park Board as well as At-Large Council member Mark Kendall and Ward One Council member Bob Shepherd.

Council members held the second reading of the ordinance to amend the City Code to make Sitler Drive a one way between Iowa Avenue and Avenue B as well as create new no parking zones on Sitler Drive, South Avenue E and Tyler Street.  This reading was approved and moved to the third reading.

The council reappointed City Clerk Illa Earnest and City Attorney Craig Arbuckle.  Earnest stated in the meeting she has been working for the city for almost 28 years and Arbuckle has been with the city for 31 years.
