Boone, IA – District assignments for boys basketball in class 1A and 2A has been released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. In 1A, Highland (2-7) is in district 11, joined by Lone Tree (9-1) and IMS (8-3) who would seem to be the favorites of the 10 teams with both ranked in the top-10.  Those two will meet in the regular season once more January 24th.  IMS lost at Lone Tree 82-75 back on December 13th.

District 13 looks to be one of the tougher districts in the state, featuring two of the seven unbeaten teams in class 1A (as of Jan. 10th) in Danville (11-0, #2 in latest polls) and Keota (11-0, NR).  Those two favorites are joined by Waco (6-5), and WMU (4-5), along with Sigourney (7-4) who could be the biggest threat to the unbeaten, although the Savages’ seven-game win streak was snapped Monday night in a home loss to HLV.

A quick look at the 2A district assignments sees Columbus Community (0-9) and Mid Prairie (1-9) both in a rather weak district 11. Mount Vernon (9-1) is the clear favorite and is sure to get their best competition from Regina (5-3). The Wildcats and Golden Hawks are joined by L&M (3-8) and West Liberty (4-5).
