Help is still being sought on how to develop the city for the future. Mayor Sandra Johnson says Washington’s Comprehensive Plan was last changed in 1998 and the increase in population from the 2010 census prompted the need for an update. She says the planning for the future need of the city come from the areas of growth.
Mayor Johnson says the steering committee has made a goal of increasing the population of the city by half of a percent for the next twenty years to just over 8000 people. She says all community members can become involved in the future planning of the city by taking a survey to help with the goals of the plan.
