West Branch, IA – The Mid-Prairie girls came back off of life support Friday night to win a key conference match up at West Branch 53-48. In a game heard on KCII and KCIIradio.com, Mid-Prairie led early 5-2 before surrendering a 19-2 run that lasted most of the rest of the first half. The Bears took a 21-12 lead into the locker room. West Branch picked up where they left off in the 3rd quarter with a 7-0 run that prompted a time out by Head Coach Marc Pennington. The message in the time out clicked with the team and all of a sudden Mid-Prairie was on their way. The Golden Hawks saw Erika Murphy pour in six straight, followed by great defense to cut the West Branch lead to 1 by the end of the 3rd quarter. Mid-Prairie would continue in the 4th building a lead as large as 10 before finishing with a 53-48 win. The Golden Hawks were led by 17 from Mariah Swartzentruber, 15 from Mallory McArtor and 10 from Erika Murphy. With the win Mid-Prairie is 8-4 overall 7-1 in the Cedar Valley Conference and they set up a first place conference showdown Tuesday with 12-0 overall and 8-0 in conference Iowa City Regina, you can hear that game live Tuesday on KCII and online at KCIIradio.com with pregame beginning at 6PM.
