Norovirus Outbreaks have begun to resurface in Iowa. There were a few counties with outbreaks late last year, but the numbers have begun to climb recently. Lynn Fisher with Washington County Public Health says we have some cases of Norovirus reported in the county, but she doesn’t consider it an outbreak. She says the most important thing to prevent transmission of the virus is to stay home when you get the symptoms of Norovirus, including nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. To prevent it spreading at home, she recommends not cooking for anyone while you’re sick. She says the illness last about three days, and there is no anti-biotic that can cure it, so staying hydrated and waiting it out is the only option. She says to call your doctor if you feel it is difficult to stay hydrated.
