Several area teams wrap up the regular season tonight as they get set for conference tournament weekend.
Highland hosts Columbus Community and West Burlington tonight.
-Huskies have lost their last seven duals and look to finish the regular season strong before the conference tournament this weekend. Sophomore Travis Cole (113) looks for his 20th dual win of the season, against zero losses and seniors Jess Hahn (132) and Kyle Schneider (285) enter this match a combined 30-2.
-Columbus Community has won 10-straight duals heading into tonight. Wildcat’s Jesus Amigon (113) remains unbeaten in duals at 18-0.
Lone Tree wrestles a dual at Pekin and against Mediapolis.
-Lions look to enter the conference tournament with a little momentum against some tough opponents. Freshman Alex Yedlik continues to have a fantastic first season, entering with a record of 23-7.
Waco wrestles New London and Van Buren tonight.
-Warrior sophomore’s Cey Saeugling (160) and Dylon Evans (138) are a combined 42-20 entering the final dual of the season. Head coach Sterling Rex joined the PM Sports Page last night and said tonight’s dual offers some familiar matchups, for the first time.
“(Tonight) will be the final dual of the season for us and we’re looking forward to both of those teams. We’ve seen both of them, just in tournaments here and there and never on a dual basis this year, so it’s going to be fun to see some of the matchups we hopefully get to see.”
