The Washington Fire Department’s Pancake Day was very busy.  Pancake chair Joe Redlinger says they were busy from the time they opened the door at 11:00 yesterday morning.  He says they anticipate serving between 1400 and 1500 people.

Redlinger says they started with an iron skillet in the mid to late 1950s, and now the Pork Producers cook the sausage, use a large griddle for the pancakes and can cook several pancakes at one time.

He says all the money raised will be used for training and equipment but have a goal of trying to purchase a new fire station.  Redlinger says it’s great to see the support from the community each year for the pancake day.
