The Kalona Chamber of Commerce will host a preventative health care screening on February 8th. It’s a chance for residents to get checked out for heart and lung problems. Alana Poage, the Administrator of Public Health in Louisa County has told us that preventative care is one of the most common things rural residents neglect. She says getting preventative care can save money, and catch problems before they become worse, but many rural residents don’t get that care because of the distance to a health care provider. This screening has packages ranging from $129 to $159 and its taking place at the Kalona Recreation Center.
