Local volunteers are encouraged to take part in a day of service next Monday as part of the Martin Luther King Junior Holiday.  Cassie Creasy with the United Way of Johnson County says they are working with the Washington High School, HACAP, and Hamakua Place to invite youth, families and community members to join in the MLK Day of Action and Service from noon to 3:00 pm next Monday at Hamakua Place.

Those coming will have the opportunity to decorate quilt squares with words or drawings that reflect King’s message of peace, justice, equality, diversity and service.  Creasy says the annual MLK Holiday and Day of Service has become one of the largest national days of service.
