Washington and Mid-Prairie wrestle at BGM tonight.  After a disappointing outing Tuesday against Wilton and West Branch, the Golden Hawks have another chance to tonight to set the schools’ single season dual wins record which stands at seven.  Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Garvey joined the PM Sports Page last night and while he said it has been great conversation in the hallways, the time has come to put the record out of the way.

“I’d like to get it done and out of the way.  A lot of people, administration, people in the school, kids, people are talking about it and if we could just get it done with, then we could move on to the next thing which is preparing for the end of the season.  I think we’ve got a good shot (at the record) and if we can’t do it Thursday night then Saturday is a dual team tournament and we’ve got five duals there.”

The Demons will be back on the mats for the first time since placing fourth at the Solon Invitational last weekend.  On the PM Sports Page Wednesday night, head coach Brent Van Weeldon said he likes the opportunity to wrestle a full match against Mid-Prairie before the sectional meet.

“We saw Mid-Prairie at Solon, they’ve got a pretty good lineup so it’s going to be nice to see Mid-Prairie there, as well as BGM.  Mid-Prairie is also in out sectional meet so we’ll get to see them head-to-head, see where we line up for sectionals.  Both teams will be real competitive, mostly with full lineups. I believe it will be a good challenge for us.”

The Golden Hawks head to Center Point-Urbana this weekend while Washington travels to East Marshall.
