The Washington City Council met last night and heard from a report about the fiscal year 2011 audit. Kim Hunsaker of CPA Associates in Burlington informed the Council that the audit was routine and no major findings were found. The Council also held a third reading of an ordinance to amend the city code to make Sitler Drive a one way between Iowa Avenue and Avenue B as well as making new no parking zones on Sitler Drive, South Avenue E and Tyler Streets. This ordinance was adopted and the changes will be made permanent.
A resolution was passed for the installation of three new street lights on East Washington Street. The new lights will be on the north side of the street between Airport Road and Walmart. A second resolution was approved for removal of three street lights.
Lights will be removed from the northeast corner of North 4th Avenue and East 3rd Street, the west side of North 8th Avenue at the alley north of 7th Street and near the old GTE office on the south side of east 2nd Street.
