As previously reported on KCII, the Washington County Conservation Board is preparing to host a hunter safety class next month and there is another opportunity for this course next week. Volunteer instructor Jim Cuddeback says this course will be offered at the Washington Junior High School. He says it’s being offered for those who would like to have certification, but do not have a way to attend the class at Marr Park.
Cuddeback says he sees many school students who attend this class but this course is open to anyone interested. The course and all training related materials are free.
Cuddeback notes that per Iowa law, each student is to receive a minimum 10 hours of teaching and pass both a written and gun handling test to successfully acquire their hunter education certificate. He says the registration is happening through tomorrow and is limited to 24 participants.
The classes will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 8:30 to 11:30 am Saturday next week. For more information, contact Jim Cuddeback at 319-863-3091.
