Iowa had seen low levels of influenza since the beginning of the flu season, but now, public health officials are seeing rising numbers in the state. Chrystal Woller from Washington County Public Health says a few cases of the flu have been reported in Washington County, but it’s not an illness that is required to be reported, so there are likely more cases than reported. She says they will continue to give out flu shots until they run out or the vaccine expires, sometime in June. She says they still have plenty of shots to give out, and it’s never too late to get the shot because Flu season peaks in February and May. KCII will keep you updated on the flu levels in Washington County as we approach the peak of flu season.
