Lone Tree jumped out to a 29-15 halftime lead and staved off a furious second half comeback attempt from the Huskies en-route to a trip to the district championship game with a 76-63 win over Cedar Valley Christian.
The Lions (20-3) got 13 first quarter points from Bryan Forbes to take an 18-8 after one but foul trouble forced Forbes to the bench for much of the second quarter, finishing the half with 14 points. Cedar Valley Christian (13-10) missed some open shots and looked out of sorts early against a full court pressure defense from Lone Tree that forced the Huskies into turnovers that led to easy baskets.

The second half was different.

Jon Landis drilled four threes, three in the second half as CVC closed the gap to six points but Bryan Forbes, missing much of the third quarter in foul trouble, forced his way to the free throw line where he scored 17 of his game-high 37. The Huskies’ Jeremy Strutz poured in a team-high 17 for CVC. ¬†Andy Dodson pitched in 11 points off the bench for the Lions and Max Larew joined him in double digits with 10 as Lone Tree advances to the district championship game Thursday night against conference foe IMS, 74-43 winners over HLV [1].
KCII will have that game live from Tim Grady Gymnasium at Mid-Prairie High School starting with the pregame show at 6:30.
