The IMS Boys Basketball team advanced to their second straight tournament Saturday night with a 55-39 win over Gladbrook-Reinbeck in the substate round of the postseason at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School. #8 IMS took an early six point lead behind back to back three’s from Chance Miller but could never pull away in the first half, leading 25-23 at halftime on the strength of a Peyton Thompson put back that beat the buzzer. In the second half IMS stepped up the defensive pressure and switched defensive matchups on Rebel star player Parker Bolt, Johnny Lackender held him to just two second half points. Turnovers spurred easy baskets that saw IMS with a 39-31 lead going to the final eight minutes. IMS put things away in the 4th quarter starting the frame on a 7-0 run that included a dazzling three point play from Cameron Gingerich. IMS was led on the night by 14 points from Miller who ended the night with four three point goals, Lackender, Thompson and Brian Hagedorn all had 10. With the win IMS stands at 22-4 on the year and will next be in action at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Monday, March 5th at 2PM against #5 Boyden Hull.
