Keokuk County Supervisors Talking Bridges

The Keokuk County Board of Supervisors meet on Monday night. One thing they will be discussing is the condition of five bridges throughout the county. Keokuk County Engineer Andrew McGuire explains that a bridge goes through a life cycle. When it is first built it is rated to hold the weight of any vehicle on the road, but as it deteriorates, it is rated to hold less and less weight. The bridges they are looking at are rated to hold 3 tons, enough to hold a car or pickup, but not a truck carrying cargo. The Board of Supervisors are going to be discussing repair or replacement options for these bridges. The Meeting is Monday at 8:30 am in the Keokuk County Courthouse.
