Those wishing to protect Iowa’s natural resources now have access to funds available.  Teresa Munn with the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District says the money is being offered through the Resource Enhancement and Protection Program (REAP).

hese funds are used to set up permanent practices with landowners who can use them for farmstead windbreaks, field windbreaks, timber stand improvements, tree plantings, site preparations for natural regeneration and conservation cover.

Munn notes that applications are always being accepted.  She says the money will be distributed as the funds become available and the practice is approved.  For more information on REAP funding, Contact the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District at 1621 East Washington in Washington or call 319-653-6654.
