Now that we have received more snow, Washington City Hall wants to remind residents about their snow removal ordinance.  Owners of properties in the city have no more than 24 hours to remove it after snow or ice has stopped falling says Washington Building and Zoning Administrator Steve Donnelly.  He says if it is not possible for the snow to be removed because it is frozen, property owners should put down salt or ice to prevent the sidewalk from being slippery.

Donnelly says the city will give the owner a two day time frame to remove the snow or ice if this policy is not followed.  He says after the two days, the city will remove the snow or ice and monetary damages will be charged to their property taxes.

To see the full snow removal ordinance, contact Washington City Hall or look at Section 53 here.
