A high profile elected official held two town hall meetings yesterday and addressed many concerns. US Senator Chuck Grassley was in Sigourney and Kalona yesterday and discussed issues related to farm bills, Medicare, Social Security, immigration, energy and high gas prices. He adds about 80% of what he hears at one event, he will hear at another.
Several in the meeting also asked about reducing the deficit. Senator Grassley says he is in favor of cutting government agencies in order to reduce the nation’s debt. Senator Grassley holds these meeting in every county in Iowa each year “to strengthen the process of representative government with dialog” between himself and the public.
