The Washington School Board met last night and heard from Dan Culp the latest on the construction of the new high school as part of the meeting.  Culp shared the classrooms are nearly completed and the gym floor is scheduled to be installed next month.  He added the project is still on time and will most likely finish under budget.

They also discussed a request of a study from the University of Iowa. Business Manager Jeff Dieleman says this study will include all grade levels and will be used in the tracking the dust that’s in the community, school building and homes.

The students will have a small monitoring device and will keep a diary of when they feel they are having an asthma attack. The Board approved this study contingent on the grant funding that would be received.

Also approved was the school calendar for next year.  The first day of class next year will be August 22nd with the last day being the 23rd of May.  There will continue to be the early release days for professional development as well.
