Two area 4-H clubs are receiving funds as part of the 2012 Pioneer Rural Community Improvements Grants. Amy Green, Washington County 4-H/Youth Coordinator says the 76 Progressives are reaching beyond the borders of the county to help plant and replace trees in both the Benton and Jasper County Fairgrounds that were destroyed during last year’s storms.

The Limecreek Limelights are expanding their knowledge and experience of sewing to use the grant to sew 25 pillowcases and purchase 25 pillows to donate to the Ronald McDonald House and Shelter House in Iowa City.

These two clubs are part of 24 from across the state to be awarded these grants to cover the cost of labor, expertise and materials needed to complete improvement plans.
