An accident in northwestern Cerro Gordo County has injured a driver from Crawfordsville.  According to the Iowa State Patrol, 23 year old Jeffrey Jindra of Mason City was traveling eastbound on 330th Street near Apple Avenue in Cerro Gordo County when he appeared to lose control on the ice covered road, crossed the center line and struck head on the Freightliner semi driven by 52 year old Curtis Powers from Crawfordsville.

The semi is owned by ACH Foam Technologies in Washington.  Powers was transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City and Jindra was killed in the crash.

The accident still remains under investigation and those responding to the scene were the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Departments, Iowa Department of Transportation, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City and Forest City Ambulance, and the Forest City Fire Department.  KCII will bring you more information when it becomes official.
