The Cedar Valley Conference is being forced by state officials to make changes that will affect the 2013-2014 seasons.  North Cedar will be dropping out of the CVC and joining several schools from the Big East and Tri-Rivers to form a brand new conference, leaving the CVC with seven members.  Mid-Prairie athletic director Steve Holland said there is a possibility that another team would step in to replace North Cedar.

“There’s been rumor that there are other teams that are looking at petitioning to come into the Cedar Valley Conference.  I think our conference is willing to take a serious look at some of the other teams that might come in. We’ll wait and see if they decide to petition to come on in; it needs to be an administrative decision and school board decision.”

That being said, the most important thing for the conference and Mid-Prairie is to keep the focus on academics.

“Class is what’s most important, that’s what high school is all about.  We need to make sure we leave our emotions out of it and make sure that we’re doing what’s best for the kids in making the decision that is going to best effect them and the Mid-Prairie school district.”

You can hear the entire interview with Mid-Prairie AD Steve Holland tomorrow on the PM Sports Page starting at 6pm.
