A Washington County Farmer has won a prize that he will be donating to the Washington County Fair. Steve and Sue Norman of Washington won $2,500 through a Monsanto sponsored program, America’s Farmers Grow Communities. The program takes place across 39 states and gives farmers the opportunity to win money for a nonprofit group of their choice. A check presenting ceremony was held on Wednesday with Steve and Sue Norman, and a Monsanto representative attending to present the check.

The funds will be used to renovate livestock buildings at the fairgrounds. In Jefferson County, the Atwood Family won, and chose to give their funds to Packwood Fire and Rescue. In Keokuk County Glenn and Judy Schweitzer won for Keokuk County Expo, and in Louisa County the Stover family won for the Louisa County Fair Association.
