Women of Washington County who have been out of high school for at least one year are eligible for a scholarship.  Millie Younquist with the American Association of University Women says they are offering a $1000 scholarship.  She says those applying should have a need for financial assistance in order to improve their marketable skills.

Youngquist adds you can be enrolled in a college or vocational school, or have plans to enroll in the near future.  She shares the scholarship will be applied toward tuition costs at any accredited institution.

Those applying need to complete a form, write a short paper, provide a copy of their transcripts and furnish three references.  The application deadline is May first.

Applications can be found at the Washington Public Library, Wellman-Scofield Public Library, Kalona Public Library, Kirkwood Learning Center in Washington and need to be sent to Millie Youngquist, 831 South 13th Avenue, Washington.
