Iowa Mennonite School’s FFA Program was one of six Iowa FFA chapters to receive a $1,500 grant from the Iowa Food and Family Project. These “Plant a Seed” grants are to be used to promote agricultural awareness and youth activities in their communities. Karen Van DeWalle, an FFA Advisor, says IMS FFA will use this grant to have a job fair for agricultural employers looking for summer employees next Thursday.

But it’s not just about summer employment, it gives students a chance to learn what they will need to do after high school to enter into their chosen agricultural field. This is the first time these grants have been given out, and they are sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred.

Those who were awarded these grants will be recognized at the FFA State Leadership Conference on April 23rd.
