Posted By News On @ 6:25 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled
Two familiar faces have entered the election for Keokuk County Sheriff. Ron George, a Democrat and former Sheriff of Keokuk County who lost to Sheriff Shipley in the 2008 race, filed candidacy papers on March 12th.Another candidate in 2008’s election, Tom Hardy, filed on March 9th. The race for Sheriff comes a short time after current Sheriff Jeff Shipley was let off on an OWI charge by Washington County Attorney Larry Brock.
Brock said the chances of Shipley being convicted were less than 50% so they dropped the case. Shipley has not filed candidacy papers yet, and didn’t return a call regarding his election plans.
