The Keota City Council met on Monday for their meeting and a public hearing on a tax abatement plan. At the meeting some citizens expressed their concerns with the state of some of the towns properties, specifically about junk in yards. The Council asked citizens to file a formal complaint so that the council could officially act on the issue. A concern brought up by the public at the last meeting was addressed as well. Citizens expressed their complaints about sidewalks on private properties at the previous meeting. The city looked into grant opportunities for replacing sidewalks. The council decided to begin the process of filing for Safe Routes to School Grants. The city will need an engineering estimate before they can apply for the grants.
