The Mid-Prairie School District has been planning the construction of a new Central Office to replace the aging current building. They had previously decided to build a new building rather than renovate the old one, or purchase and existing property. A group of school officials and community members met last Wednesday to discuss the possible sites for the new building. The group is leaning towards using the site the old building is currently at. Mark Schneider, Mid-Prairie Superintendent, says the other options were to build the new office on the high school property or junior high property. But those sites had some problems. The high school doesn’t have enough land that future expansions to the high school could be made if the office was built there, and the junior high isn’t central enough to the school district as a whole. They will have another meeting to officially decide which site to choose.
