A Mt. Pleasant man, Rich Taylor, will be making a run for the State Senate. Taylor is a 57 year old Democrat who retired after working 26 years at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Ft. Madison. He tells us he’s lived in Henry County his whole life. He has also spent time in the Iowa National Guard. He tells us that his career at the State Penitentiary and his experience as a leader in a union has prepared him for a position in the Senate. He will be focusing on job creation during his run for the Senate in District 42. He also says that education reform is an important issue, but job creation will help with the education system. He says once parents have one good job rather than two low paying ones, they will have more time to help their kids with their school work. Larry Kruse, a Lee County Supervisor, will be running for the Senate seat in District 42 as well. To hear more from Rich Taylor, listen to our In Touch program today.
