Title: Fundraiser
Description: A fundraiser is being held at the Faith Baptist Church Saturday night to help pay for an expensive treatment from a life threatening disease for a former foreign exchange student. There will be desserts serviced by World Link exchange students and cultural sharing performances. The fundraiser $20 per person or $35 per couple and is taking place from 7:00 to 9:00 Saturday at Faith Baptist Church. For more information call Z at (319) 461-2788.

Senator Grassley Looking to Help Independent Farmers

Fair Association Looks at Derby Changes

The County Fair Association met Wednesday night, and at their meeting they heard a proposal from the Fire Department regarding the Demolition Derby. With low turnouts for the truck class in previous years, the proposal would eliminate the trucks and possibly replace it with an iron class, or “cheaters class”.

Keokuk County Sheriff Race Has Two Contenders

Two familiar faces have entered the election for Keokuk County Sheriff. Ron George, a Democrat and former Sheriff of Keokuk County who lost to Sheriff Shipley in the 2008 race, filed candidacy papers on March 12th.

Warren Olson

A celebration of life service for 78 year old Warren Olson of Kalona will be held at a later date.  Memorial funds have been established to Mid-Prairie Foundation, Kalona First Responders, or Kalona Volunteer Fire Department.  The Peterseim Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
