The Mental Health System is going to see some changes in the near future as lawmakers debate a complete overhaul of the system. But for now, the mental health system in Iowa can be tough to navigate. Iowa Wesleyan College is hosting a program about one person’s difficulty navigating the mental health system. Joan Becker is the mother of Mark. You may remember Mark Becker as the person who shot and killed his former high school football coach. But he had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia weeks before the shooting. He was not yet on medication. Joan will talk about her struggles navigating the mental health system, and how she thinks problems could be prevented in the future. The program is tomorrow at 11:00 at Iowa Wesleyan College.
