The Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office want to make sure you always arrive safely to your destination this weekend.  Beginning today, law enforcement officials will be on the roadways making sure motorists are buckled up and are obeying all traffic laws through Iowa’s special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP).

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Jason Marlow says this program first started several years ago to look at high traffic weekends or weekends where more alcohol consumption may be involved.

He says there are approximately 240 law enforcement agencies across the state that will participate in sTEP.  Marlow says the sTEP program starts today and will run through Sunday.
