Residents of Washington County have a chance to help stop prescription drug abuse next weekend.  Sarah Smith, with the Washington County SAFE Coalition says they are working with Iowa Wesleyan Student Nurses and the Drug Enforcement Agency to try and stop pill abuse and theft of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medicines.

Last year over 188 tons of drugs at over 5300 locations operated by the DEA were turned in.  Smith says the service is free and anonymous with no questions asked.  The prescription drug drop off will be happening next Saturday, the 28th from 10:00 to 2:00 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington.
