The Washington City Council met last night and as part of their meeting, they held discussion regarding several ordinances.  The first was the second reading of an ordinance to amend the city code for the adoption of the 2011 Electrical Code.  This was approved and the final reading will be at the next meeting.

The second was to accept bids for this year’s seal coat project.  Municipal Street Improvements based in Wyoming, Iowa was awarded the project for almost $86,000.  This project will be to allow different amounts of coating on the streets based on traffic flow.

A first reading of an ordinance to allow golf carts on city streets took place as well.  Some adjustment to the original ordinance was to allow no one under the age of 18 to drive the carts and they must be equipped with seat belts.  These changes will be made before the next reading.

The next City Council meeting will be May 2nd at 6:00.
