The Ainsworth Community Center and Opera House is holding their annual feed sack display this weekend. Michael Zahs with the Ainsworth Opera House says some of the items on display will be quilts, old feed sacks, aprons, some clothes, and curtains. He says they have the largest display in the nation.
Zahs says most of the material was made of cotton and was a sturdy material. He notes in the 1930s and 1940s that every bit of fabric in a house could have been part of a feed sack.
Zahs says they will also be having a buffet meal both evenings. The proceeds from this display go toward the Opera House. The Community Feed Sack Display runs from 10:00 to 8:00 both Friday and Saturday.
