The sign up period for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), which was extended from last Friday, ends today.
Bill Bartenhagen, Executive Director of the Washington County FSA Office says the CRP sets aside areas of farm land to return them to a type of cover crop such as grassland or tree projects.
Contracts can run from 10 to 15 years depending on the practice. Washington County has a little over 40,000 acres that are part of the Conservation Reserve Program. Today is the last day to take part in the general sign up. For more information, visit this link.
