The rankings have been released for 2012 County Health Rankings and in Iowa, Washington County appears in the top 20 of overall health outcomes.  These rankings were released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute which compares the health of counties in every state and measured the overall health and factors that influence health.  Washington County Public Health Administrator Edie Nebel explains the process of the rankings.

Health Outcomes show how healthy a county is and Health Factors signify what influences the health of the county.  Neighboring Johnson County is the healthiest in Health Factors and Winneshiek County is the top of the list for Health Outcomes.  To see how each county in the state ranked, look at this link.
