The ISU Extension is honoring volunteers across the state as well as here in Washington County this week as part of National Volunteer Week.  Washington County 4-H/Youth Coordinator Amy Green says special thank you notes are being sent to the nearly 200 volunteers who helped to serve as club leaders, project leaders, superintendents, committee members or assistants at the fair.

She adds volunteers have a tremendous impact on 4-H in Washington County by combining education, communication, leadership and fun.

Green notes volunteers are involved in every aspect of the county extension service including determining the needs of the residents, planning programs, securing resources and evaluating programs.

Green says if you would like to be a volunteer with the Washington County 4‑H program, you can contact her at the Washington County Extension office.
