Washington County Public Health has joined state and national Departments of Public Health in recognizing this week as Infant Immunization Week.  Public Health Nurse Lynn Fisher says during the week, they celebrate how successful Iowans are in giving vaccinations to their children.  She says there are 14 different diseases that can be prevented with vaccines.

Fisher adds out of all the different vaccines given, not all of them are 100% effective which prompts the Centers for Disease Control to change the requirements on immunizations.  To learn more about Infant Immunization Week, contact Washington County Public Health.
