Kalona Council member Claudine Miller-Zahradneck has resigned from her position on the council. She informed the council that she would be leaving at their Monday night meeting. City Clerk Karen Christner says Zahradneck resigned due to medical issues. The council has sent out notices to the public stating they are accepting letters of intent from anyone wishing to fill the vacancy. There will not be an election for the open seat unless the public requests one. Letters will be taken until April 30th, and the council will appoint a new member at their May 7th meeting.
