This is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, a week which honors those who answer emergency calls, dispatch emergency personnel and equipment and render life-saving assistance to the citizens across the nation.  Here in Washington County, there are 11 telecommunicators with over 118 years of experience.  Operator, Michael Powers, who has been at the Safety Center for three years explains part of his job.

As for a major event, Operator Sandy Lovetinsky says what happens.

They both say that no two days are the same and there have been good and bad days.  Both Powers and Lovetinsky agree their job is rewarding and have enjoyed their time at the Washington County Safety Center.  You can hear more from Powers and Lovetinsky during today’s In Touch With Southeast Iowa program in the midday magazine.
